God hates fags

A quote from this Chron story about people from Kansas (yes, the state) picketing against gays in Central California: "Strip away their titles, and those churches are all talking about the same big lie," Phelps-Roper said, "that God loves anyone."

Um, maybe I'm mis-remembering what I learned in Sunday School, but isn't the big message of Christianity that God does love everyone?

If it's going to affect my kid, you're darn right they should shut their yap, whether they love fags or hate 'em.

Of course not, Peter. The relationship you describe with the student is exactly WJWD (what Jesus would do :-) ), and that's awesome.

It is too bad that the extreme freaks get all the attention. On some level I think it's almost easier for the general population to understand the pure hatred of the freaks than the kind of intellectual dislike for homosexuality you describe. Maybe it's kind of like hating smoking, but having friends who smoke? Is that a decent analogy?

As for schools, are educators across the country really mostly liberal? I would think they'd more-or-less reflect the local political learning...

Hmm...I think I have to hop into this one. At least with some food for thought.

WWJD? Well, its interesting what he DID do. When Jesus saw people sinning he plaited a whip and lit into them physically. He got thoroughly ticked and did something about it. Then there is that incident where he called a woman a dog--and that was just for being a gentile!

WWJD?
